Product Overview

The CDD12 is a two-way passive installation loudspeaker in Martin Audio's CDD series, coaxially arranging a 12-inch LF driver and 1-inch-exit HF compression driver. Its coaxial assembly blends the HF waveguide into the profile of the LF cone, combining near point-source geometry with wide coverage.

Horizontal coverage varies from 110° on the near side to 60° on the far side, with 60° vertical coverage. The coaxial driver assembly can be rotated so the coverage orientation can be selected for portrait or landscape installation. A passive crossover operates at 1.9kHz, and Martin Audio controllers provide compatible FIR presets.

Design & Technology

An HF waveguide continuous with the LF cone

A 1-inch-exit HF compression driver sits at the centre of the 12-inch LF driver, with a static waveguide blending into the LF cone profile. Martin Audio uses this arrangement to keep both bands close to a common acoustic position while reducing the HF narrowing associated with conventional coaxial geometry.

Wider near-side and narrower far-side coverage

Horizontal coverage is not a fixed symmetrical angle; it varies from 110° on the near side to 60° on the far side. The design distributes sound widely toward nearby listeners and more narrowly toward distant listeners, covering an audience area with depth from a single enclosure.

Selecting coverage orientation in portrait or landscape

The coaxial assembly can be rotated in 90° steps, allowing the near and far sides of the Differential Dispersion pattern to be aimed at the audience in portrait or landscape installation. M8 bracket inserts and flying points support wall, ceiling and truss mounting.

Internal crossover and controller presets

An internal passive crossover divides the LF and HF sections at 1.9kHz, allowing operation from one external amplifier channel. Martin Audio provides FIR presets for compatible DX controllers and iKON amplifiers, supporting system EQ and limiting.
