Product Overview

S5H is a horizontal three-way active main monitor in ADAM Audio's S Series, designed for large studios and control rooms. Two 10in ELE LF drivers, a 4in cone/dome hybrid DCH MF and a folded-diaphragm S-ART HF operate with crossover frequencies of 250Hz and 3kHz.

The MF is coupled to an MPS aluminium waveguide and the HF to an HPS aluminium waveguide. Class D amplification provides 700W for LF, 300W for MF and 100W for HF, while DSP handles crossover, protection, room EQ, delay, presets and AES3 input processing.

Design & Technology

Dual 10in ELE LF drivers

Two 10in LF drivers flank the central MF/HF section. Each LF uses a HexaCone diaphragm, 3in voice coil and long-excursion ELE construction, combined with ADAM Audio's Symmetrical Magnet Assembly.

Cone/dome hybrid DCH MF

The 4in DCH MF forms its cone perimeter and dome centre as a one-piece carbon-composite diaphragm. It covers the dedicated MF band between the 250Hz and 3kHz crossover points.

S-ART folded-diaphragm HF

S-ART is a folded-diaphragm HF driver that moves air through the expansion and contraction of its pleats. For the S5H, ADAM Audio specifies a 2,420mm² radiating area, 4:1 velocity transformation ratio and 0.17g moving mass.

Separate MF and HF waveguides

The DCH MF is surrounded by an MPS waveguide and the S-ART HF by an HPS waveguide. Both are machined from aluminium; ADAM Audio describes them as controlling MF and HF off-axis response to form a stable listening area for multiple users in large control rooms.

Three Class D channels totalling 1,100W

Separate Class D amplifiers provide 700W, 300W and 100W to LF, MF and HF. In addition to the three-way crossover and limiter protection, DSP provides six-band parametric EQ, LF/HF shelving, delay and preset storage.

Rear inputs and front ports

Audio inputs include analogue XLR and AES3, while USB is used for DSP configuration and firmware management. Two bass-reflex ports open at the lower front, with internal shaping intended to reduce airflow turbulence and port resonance.
