Product Overview

KORE is DALI's flagship passive floorstanding loudspeaker, unveiled at the 2022 High End Show. It uses two 11.5in LF drivers, a 7in MF and an EVO-K hybrid HF module combining a 35mm soft dome with a 10 × 55mm planar element. DALI describes the system as 3.5-plus-0.5-way.

The LF and MF drivers use dual-voice-coil Balanced Drive motor systems with SMC Gen-2 material. SMC-KORE inductors are used in the crossover, while the curved enclosure combines separated internal chambers, anchored baffles, dual-flare bass-reflex ports and a resin-composite plinth.

Design & Technology

Dual 11.5in LF drivers

The upper and lower 11.5in LF drivers use Balanced Drive motor systems with two voice coils and magnetic gaps. Their magnetic circuits incorporate low-conductivity SMC Gen-2 material, which DALI describes as reducing distortion associated with flux modulation and eddy currents.

Dedicated 7in MF

The dedicated 7in MF also uses Balanced Drive and SMC Gen-2, combined with DALI's paper-and-wood-fibre diaphragm and a lighter, thinner rubber surround. It operates in a separate band from the LF drivers.

35mm soft dome and planar element

EVO-K combines a 35mm soft dome developed and manufactured by DALI with a 10 × 55mm planar element. The soft dome acts as the principal HF driver and the planar element supplements the top octave above 12kHz; crossover points are 2.1kHz and 12kHz.

Dedicated aluminium baffle

The HF module and MF are mounted in a dedicated aluminium baffle at the centre of the enclosure, separating their immediate mounting structure and surrounding geometry from the main cabinet.

SMC-KORE inductors

The passive crossover uses SMC-KORE inductors with SMC core material. The crossover is housed within a non-magnetic resin-composite plinth weighing more than 34kg, separating it from the driver motors and pressure inside the main enclosure.

Curved, internally divided enclosure

The cabinet uses curved form-pressed laminates and substantial internal bracing, with separate internal volumes for the drivers. Dual-flare ports behind the LF drivers, dedicated baffles and the resin-composite plinth are integrated into the structure.
