Product Overview

The Core 59 is a three-way active studio monitor combining a 9-inch LF driver, 5-inch MF driver and 1.1-inch Esotar Pro soft-dome HF driver. The three bands are driven independently by 500W, 500W and 150W Class D amplifiers, with crossover frequencies at 385Hz and 5kHz.

Its circular Orbit baffle carries the MF and HF drivers and can be rotated to preserve their orientation when the enclosure is used vertically, horizontally or as a centre channel. Analogue XLR and AES3 digital I/O are provided, while rear-panel DSP controls adjust the monitor for placement and overall tonal balance.

Design & Technology

9-inch LF, 5-inch MF and Esotar Pro HF

Dynaudio uses MSP (Magnesium Silicate Polymer) cones for the LF and MF drivers, paired with a 1.1-inch Esotar Pro soft-dome HF driver. Dedicated amplifiers drive each band, divided by DSP crossovers at 385Hz and 5kHz.

Hexis inner dome behind the HF diaphragm

A Hexis inner dome sits behind the Esotar Pro diaphragm to manage airflow and reduce internal resonance. Dynaudio describes it as an adaptation of the geometry used in its domestic Esotar 3 driver.

The circular Orbit baffle integrating the MF and HF drivers can be rotated. Their relative orientation can therefore be maintained when the cabinet is used vertically or horizontally, including configurations with the LF driver above or centre-channel placement.

Rear-panel adjustment for placement and full-band balance

The Position controls provide settings for desk, soffit, wall, corner and free-space placement. Sound Balance applies a broad tonal tilt rather than altering only a narrow band, while an 80Hz high-pass filter supports integration into systems using subwoofers.

Analogue XLR and AES3 digital I/O

Alongside balanced analogue XLR input, the Core 59 provides AES3 digital input and through output. Digital operation can lock to the AES input or word clock, supporting multi-monitor digital signal chains.
