Product Overview

X2 is an installation matrix-array system that brings HOLOPLOT's 3D Audio-Beamforming and Wave Field Synthesis to lecture halls, houses of worship, transport hubs, PA/VA and experiential spaces. Its core hardware, the X2 Modul 30 (MD30), arranges thirty 2.5-inch full-range drivers in a single-layer matrix, with a dedicated digital amplifier and DSP channel for every driver.

Beam direction and opening angle can be controlled in both horizontal and vertical planes, and one X2 Matrix Array can generate up to twelve independent sound fields. Modules can be joined horizontally and vertically, while power, audio and control are centred on CAT6A and PoE++. Amplification racks are eliminated and system design, control and monitoring are integrated into HOLOPLOT's software environment.

Design & Technology

A single-layer matrix with individual amplification and processing

The X2 Modul 30 places thirty 2.5-inch full-range drivers in a planar matrix and assigns each one its own digital amplifier and DSP channel. Unlike a conventional column array that feeds the same signal to all drivers, it computes thirty individual outputs to construct the wavefront.

A module scalable in both axes

The MD30 can be used in landscape or portrait orientation, and multiple modules can be joined horizontally and vertically as one X2 Matrix Array. Because array dimensions and beam configuration affect maximum SPL and the controllable frequency range, performance is assessed at system level in HOLOPLOT Plan.

Because drivers are distributed across both axes, beam direction and opening angle can be set horizontally and vertically. HOLOPLOT Plan is used to shape coverage to the audience and reduce radiation toward reflective walls, ceilings or other areas to be avoided.

Up to twelve fields and Wave Field Synthesis

One X2 Matrix Array can generate up to twelve simultaneous sound fields, each with its own input, equalisation, level, shape and position. Eight are user-configurable parametric beams or virtual sources and four provide optimised coverage of predefined audience areas. Wave Field Synthesis places virtual sources away from the physical array and generates wavefronts that convey distance and direction of arrival.

Power, audio and control over CAT6A

Two CAT6A ports carry PoE++ power, AoIP audio and control traffic. Using both provides redundant communication and power while raising continuous power capacity from 90W to 180W. AES67/RAVENNA and OCA/AES70 control are complemented by analogue audio and fault relays for integration with both networked and existing infrastructure.

Integrated operation through Plan, Control and OS

Arrays and coverage are designed in HOLOPLOT Plan, while HOLOPLOT Control and the module's HOLOPLOT OS handle configuration, monitoring and diagnostics. Integrating amplification and DSP in every module reduces external amplifier racks, while requiring acoustics, networking, PoE power and software to be planned as one system.
