23dB Productions developed its audiobook program in response to client demand. The model grew from remote podcast production services that began during the pandemic and has expanded into a scalable service for authors, publishers and content creators across the United States.

The company ships each author a customized recording kit containing a microphone, laptop and Scarlett 4th Generation interface. After connection, a 23dB engineer monitors the session remotely in real time while audio records locally on the client’s system. Software control of the Scarlett 4th Generation interface lets the company manage key functions remotely without requiring authors to handle technical settings.

The workflow was recently used for the audiobook by former NBA player and coach Bill Cartwright, published by Sophisticated Press. With Cartwright’s travel schedule making traditional studio sessions difficult to coordinate, 23dB Productions sent the kit directly to him and supervised the production process remotely.
