The Canadian Institute for Theatre Technology is holding its annual Rendez-vous event in Ottawa from August 12 to 14. Hosted at LabO, part of the University of Ottawa's Department of Theatre, the programme brings together practitioners working across live sound, lighting, video, venue systems, and education.
For loudspeaker professionals, the key session is the dedicated showcase scheduled from 9 to 10am on August 13. It offers a chance to compare system output, coverage, and tonal character in one venue, qualities that are difficult to judge from specification sheets or booth displays alone.
The trade show follows from 11am to 3pm. The official exhibitor list includes d&b audiotechnik Canada, GerrAudio, Contact Distribution, Sennheiser, and AVL Media, among the suppliers and support companies active in Canada's professional-audio market.
Rendez-vous is broader than a product-launch event. Sessions also address theatre-system design, operation, safety, and training, so the audio programme sits in the practical context of building and running venues and touring productions.
The trade show is open to the public. Anyone attending should check the official schedule and venue information before travelling, as on-site programmes can change.
