Goldmund unveiled the Telos 9800 on August 10 as its new reference stereo power amplifier. Rated at 1,560W into 8 ohms and priced at EUR430,000, US$500,000, or GBP370,000, it sits well beyond the normal scale of domestic amplification in both output and cost.

Its defining feature is physical separation. The power supply and amplification stages live in distinct enclosures that connect to operate as a single amplifier. Moving the high-current supply away from the signal circuitry is intended to reduce both mechanical and electrical interaction.

The supply incorporates what Goldmund describes as the largest capacitor bank it has built, together with custom capacitors, transformers, and a new generation of power boards. The company claims improved stability as the loudspeaker load changes, along with tighter driver control. Independent measurements will be needed to put those claims in context.

Connectivity includes balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue inputs, plus S/PDIF digital input and output. Digital signals can use Goldmund's Leonardo algorithm, which is designed to compensate for phase and timing behaviour in a matching loudspeaker system. That gives the amplifier a role in the company's wider digital ecosystem rather than limiting it to conventional power amplification.

Architect and designer Cecile Barani shaped the aluminium exterior, finished with gold-coloured details. The result reads less like a simple power specification exercise and more like a statement of Goldmund's current approach to power delivery, signal processing, and industrial design.
