CBT 1000
A passive two-way installation column combining six 165mm LF and twenty-four 25mm HF drivers with sixteen vertical patterns and 100–160° tapered horizontal coverage.
- Drivers
- 6 × 165mm LF + 24 × 25mm HF
- Frequency range
- 45Hz–20kHz (-10dB)
- Coverage
- 16 vertical patterns / 100–160° horizontal

Product Overview
CBT 1000 is a passive two-way installation column using JBL Professional's Constant Beamwidth Technology. Six 165mm LF drivers and twenty-four 25mm soft-dome HF drivers are arranged vertically, and four upper-pattern settings combine with four lower-pattern settings to provide sixteen asymmetrical vertical-coverage options from controls on the loudspeaker.
In the horizontal plane, a Tapered Horizontal Waveguide makes coverage wider at short throw and narrower at long throw, varying continuously from 100° to 160°. Pattern selection requires no external DSP, and the system includes Music/Speech voicing, a pan/tilt wall bracket and optional provisions for outdoor use.

Design & Technology
Four upper and four lower settings
Vertical coverage is configured by selecting one of four Pattern Up settings and one of four Pattern Down settings, giving sixteen combinations. Separate upper and lower choices allow asymmetrical patterns with different coverage toward the far and near areas.
Passive pattern selection without external DSP
Pattern formation is handled by the internal passive network and loudspeaker switches, without per-driver amplifier channels or external DSP. Music voicing targets flatter response, while Speech voicing adds midrange presence.
Wide at short throw, narrower at long throw
Rather than using one fixed horizontal angle, the waveguide varies continuously from 160° toward the short-throw area to 100° toward the long-throw area. The asymmetrical horizontal pattern is intended to cover front corners and the rear of a space from one enclosure.
Separate mechanisms for vertical and horizontal coverage
The driver array and passive network provide sixteen patterns in the vertical plane, while the tapered waveguide shapes the horizontal plane. The two axes are therefore adjusted by different mechanisms for the mounting position and audience geometry.
Six LF and twenty-four HF drivers

Twenty-four 25mm HF drivers form a vertical line along the centre axis of six 165mm LF drivers. JBL describes the components as coaxially arranged; this is an overlaid LF/HF array sharing a centre axis, rather than a set of individual coaxial drivers.
Wall mounting and outdoor option
The included wall bracket supports up to ±45° pan and ±15° tilt. The enclosure is fibreglass-reinforced ABS with a powder-coated aluminium grille, and it is rated IP55 when installed with the optional terminal cover.
