Banana Ball TV, the broadcast operation behind the Savannah Bananas, has placed Calrec at the center of an expanded distributed audio workflow. The deployment includes three 36-fader Argo M consoles, three Type R systems, and True Control 2.0, spread across two main control rooms at BTV's Savannah remote facility and flypacks in the field.
For REMI broadcasts, BTV uses Argo consoles in its main control rooms and Type R frames in mobile units and flypacks. The field workflow combines analog, embedded SDI, MADI, and Dante audio, applies a first-pass mix and level set, then embeds the audio into the video transmission system back to Savannah. Lip sync is checked on-site so the control rooms can concentrate on the final broadcast mix.
Remote control through the Calrec Assist GUI lets staff access consoles from inside the stadium, and Matt Webster, Savannah Bananas' Head of Technology, also describes remote support from home for live shows and quick issue resolution. BTV plans to introduce more True Control 2.0 as the season progresses, with the Banana Ball Championship League adding a broadcast schedule that spans games across 75 stadiums and 45 states.
