Fashion brand EDIKTED has installed a K-array audio system at its Fifth Avenue flagship in New York. The store occupies the historic Charles Scribner's Sons Building, where a 30-foot vaulted space and extensive hard, metallic, and glazed surfaces shaped the acoustic brief.
Concentrating the system into a few powerful sources would have produced large level differences between nearby and distant retail areas, while exciting more of the reflective interior. The designers instead distributed smaller loudspeakers along the customer route, shortening the distance from each source to its intended coverage zone.
The system comprises ten slim Vyper-KV102W II columns, twelve KGEAR GH4W loudspeakers, and six Rumble-KU210W subwoofers. The Vypers follow architectural lines, the GH4W units provide supplementary coverage, and the KU210W cabinets extend the low end without making the main loudspeakers visually dominant.
Kommander-KA208 amplifiers provide power and processing. Model-specific DSP presets support the loudspeakers, while separate zones allow staff to set levels for different parts of the floor. The same installation can therefore accommodate routine trading, busy periods, and in-store events without physically reconfiguring the system.
The project is less about maximum output than fitting sound to architecture and retail operation. Closely spaced, visually restrained sources combined with zoned DSP are a familiar answer wherever loudspeakers must serve a store, hotel, or exhibition space without competing with the interior design.
