KRK has announced the fifth generation of its V Series active studio monitors. The range comprises the 4-inch V4, 6.5-inch V6, and 8-inch V8, covering applications from nearfield production desks to larger control rooms while retaining a common two-way platform.
Each monitor uses a Kevlar woofer in a cast-aluminium frame and a one-inch silk-dome tweeter behind a waveguide. Claimed low-frequency extension is 48Hz for the V4, 40Hz for the V6, and 32Hz for the V8; all three reach 40kHz. Maximum SPL rises from 113dB to 118dB and 121dB across the range.
Amplification is identical in each model: 280W for the woofer and 175W for the tweeter. KRK combines ESS conversion, Analog Devices DSP, and Pascal Class-D amplifier modules. Keeping that electronics platform consistent should make it easier to maintain tonal continuity across multichannel rooms that mix cabinet sizes.
The onboard DSP provides 49 Boundary EQ combinations, seven bands of parametric PRO EQ, and three user memories. The controls go beyond coarse wall and desktop compensation, allowing engineers to store room-specific adjustments in the monitor itself.
KRK Mesh is the more consequential workflow change. Through the KRK Control app, monitors can be grouped for linked level, mute, dim, and EQ operation. That matters most in Dolby Atmos rooms, where walking around the room to adjust every cabinet quickly becomes impractical. V Series Five is therefore as much a system-management update as a new generation of transducers and amplifiers.
