Prodigio Audio demonstrated its WR1 Sicambria electrostatic loudspeakers with Linear Tube Audio's Aero DAC, a prototype Century preamplifier and Century monoblocks at SouthWest Audio Fest. The loudspeakers are priced at US$72,500 per pair.
Electrostatics are often admired for speed and transparency yet criticised for insufficient texture or physical life. Listening with Billie Eilish, Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Isao Suzuki Trio led the report to praise not only separation and scale, but also natural texture, flow and energy.
A show report cannot replace measurement or extended listening, but it can identify a system that challenges an established expectation. The contribution of WR1 itself should still be separated from that of the tube electronics and confirmed in a permanent room.
