Yorkville Sound has introduced the EL24S, a new powered subwoofer in its Elite range. AVNetwork reported the launch on August 11. Yorkville describes it as the first powered 24-inch subwoofer for live sound reinforcement; that wording is the manufacturer's market claim rather than an independently certified distinction.
The transducer combines a neodymium motor with a 6.5-inch voice coil. Yorkville rates the system at 5,000W peak and 2,500W program. The company's engineering case for the larger cone is that greater radiating area can achieve the required output with less excursion, reducing distortion and mechanical stress.
The signal path includes full-range inputs, full-range outputs and high-passed outputs, along with onboard limiting. Power uses a powerCON TRUE1-compatible connection. That gives a portable system a direct route to feed filtered signal to its top cabinets without making an external processor the only crossover option.
The EL24S follows the EL12M monitor, EL15P loudspeaker and EL18S and EL21S subwoofers introduced earlier in 2026. It becomes the largest single-driver low-frequency option in the renewed Elite family, extending a range designed around different output and deployment requirements.
A 24-inch driver brings obvious implications for transport, weight and floor area as well as cone area. AVNetwork's launch report does not give final dimensions, mass, frequency range or maximum SPL, so system designers will need Yorkville's complete specification before comparing the EL24S with established 18- and 21-inch alternatives.
