An estimated two million people gathered in New York City for the celebration of the Knicks winning the NBA championship for the first time in 53 years. Eastern Stage Productions of New York handled sound reinforcement at City Hall, using a CODA Audio-led system for the proceedings, speeches, and Alicia Keys’ performance.
For the wide stage and audience area in front of City Hall, ESP combined flown and ground-stacked elements. Each main hang used four AiRAY and six CiRAY units with two SCP-F sensor-controlled dual 18-inch subwoofers per side, supplemented by seven ground stacks of three AiRAY with one SC2-F each. Four HOPS8T covered the dais, two HOPS8 served as backstage fills, two HOPS12 were used as center fills, eight N-RAY compact line array units covered side seating, ten additional SCP-F subwoofers supported low-end coverage, CUE FOUR monitors handled the stage, and twelve LINUS14D four-channel DSP amplifiers drove the system.
The source-supported significance lies in the way CODA Audio line arrays, point-source fills, subwoofers, monitors, and DSP amplification were combined for a large outdoor civic event that included both spoken program material and a live performance. The deployment addressed the main audience field, dais, center area, side seating, backstage area, and stage monitoring as separate coverage needs within one event system.
