Neumann has announced the U 47 fet Bon Scott Edition, a limited special edition studio microphone connected to AC/DC frontman Bon Scott. The model is scheduled to launch on July 9, 2026, the date that would have marked Scott’s 80th birthday, and is limited to 300 units worldwide.
The edition is based on the current-production U 47 fet reissue. The U 47 fet was introduced in 1972 as the solid-state successor to the tube-based U 47 and returned to production in 2014. The Bon Scott Edition adds a matte black finish, Bon Scott graphics, his name and signature on the body, a black wooden presentation box, a collector’s booklet with an interview with producer Harry Vanda, and individual numbering. Neumann states maximum SPL handling at 137 dB SPL, or 147 dB with the pad engaged.
The listed applications include powerful vocals, guitar and bass amplifiers, kick drums, and other high-impact sources. Availability is through select dealers in Europe and Asia, while North and South America sales are exclusive to Sweetwater and Guitar Center, and Neumann will donate a portion of proceeds to Support Act Australia.
