Matrix Productions has released qPlayer 2.0 on the App Store for macOS, iPad, and iPhone. The headline addition is qPlayer Studio for Mac, where users can place stems directly on a timeline, assign each stem to an output, align video and lighting, and publish the completed cue to a setlist.
Audio can be routed one-to-one across as many as 32 discrete outputs into a USB interface. On Mac, qPlayer outputs two 1080p NDI sources, one for video and one for the teleprompter, and version 2 also supports multi-universe lighting over Art-Net and sACN, MIDI sent from cues, Stream Deck control, and Apple Watch remote control. Using all modes at the same time on iPad and iOS requires USB-C models, suitable output adapters, and an ArtNet interface for DMX features.
The workflow centers on building a show on Mac and running the same show offline from a Mac, iPad, or iPhone. Version 2 also replaces subscriptions with one-time perpetual upgrades: Gig at GBP 49.99, Plus at GBP 99.99, and Pro at GBP 199.99, with one purchase covering both the Mac and iOS apps.
