The Downmix Engine in ART::Director 1.3.1 takes a spatial mix built for a large venue loudspeaker system and develops simultaneous versions for other listening environments. Stereo, 5.1, 7.1, Atmos and custom loudspeaker layouts can run in parallel.
Dedicated feeds can reach an outside-broadcast truck, production studio, rehearsal room or backstage area, reducing the time for which the auditorium must be occupied during pre-production. Each downmix has its own spatial scale, fades, LFE handling and options to keep performer sources at the front.
The update also expands OSC addressing with ADM-OSC in mind, adds negative loudspeaker delay, snapshot crossfades and connection history. A generated downmix still needs editorial balance and loudness checks at its destination, but the common preparation work can now happen much earlier.
