Panasonic and HIVE have contributed to an upgrade of the large-scale immersive exhibition system at the National Museum of Qatar. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the museum combines projection, artefacts and exhibition design to present Qatar’s history from prehistoric landscapes and early settlements through to modern national development.

Delivered with Secuoya QFC & BGL audiovisual, the installation uses 172 Beeblade media engines for projection mapping and synchronized playback across 10 galleries. The distributed system includes 150 Beeblade Pluto engines, 30 Beeblade Minima engines and 14 Beehive enclosures, supporting 8K 10-bit HEVC playback, site-wide scheduling, VIOSO projection alignment and blending, and HIVE centralized monitoring, reporting and control. The museum’s 128 Panasonic projectors are being upgraded to PT-RQ25K 3-chip 4K DLP laser models, each rated at 20,000 lumens, roughly twice the output of the PT-RQ13K units they replace.

By embedding HIVE media processing in the Panasonic projectors via the SDM slot, the system reduces the need for external media servers and extensive cabling. That matters in galleries where visitors can approach the projected surfaces directly, placing pressure on image quality and playback performance as mostly 8K-shot content is mapped onto curved walls and architectural surfaces. The practical gain is a projection environment designed to be easier to operate, maintain and scale while preserving the museum’s close-range immersive presentation.
