AHT Marine, founded in 1996 as Advanced Home Theater, integrates entertainment, control and automation systems across residential, commercial and marine projects. In yacht work, its systems can span audio, video, lighting, environmental control, IT networks, communications and security, while racks and AV rooms are often locked in early and cannot easily expand later. That makes amplifier density, weight, heat and rack height practical design constraints rather than secondary specifications.
The company identified Powersoft’s Unica platform as a fit because it combines high-output, high-channel-count amplification, onboard DSP and network connectivity in a 1RU chassis. AHT Marine can choose models from roughly 1,000 watts to 8,000 watts per unit without changing the physical rack format. On a recent yacht project using about 64 amplifiers, equivalent 2U units would have required around another rack and a half, space the vessel did not have.
For AHT Marine, Unica’s DSP places filtering, limiting, time alignment and system protection at the amplifier, simplifying signal flow in installations where equipment may be difficult to reach once underway. AES67 support matters because the company uses audio over IP and needs distribution to coexist with control, monitoring and IT systems on shared infrastructure. The platform’s efficiency also reduces power draw and heat in tight racks, while lower weight helps avoid design consequences that can affect yacht classification, regulation and cost.
