Elegan is a new loudspeaker platform rather than a light revision of an older QUAD model. Elegan 1 is a two-way standmount with a 165mm mid-bass driver and 25mm soft dome, while Elegan 2 adds twin 165mm woofers and a dedicated 125mm midrange in a three-way floorstander. Development was led by acoustic design director Peter Comeau.
The cones combine lattice-woven Kevlar with a self-damping resin. QUAD targets Linkwitz-Riley acoustic slopes through dedicated crossover networks using polypropylene capacitors and frequency-appropriate inductors. Each cabinet has its own volume, bracing and damping scheme, together with a rear Airflow port shaped to reduce turbulence.
Elegan 1 is rated at 86dB sensitivity and 56Hz-24kHz, priced at GBP749 per pair. Elegan 2 raises sensitivity to 90dB and extends the quoted response to 44Hz, at GBP1,499. Those figures place the range as a practical route into QUAD ownership rather than a technology showcase detached from ordinary systems.
