Solid State Logic has announced Odyssey, a new large-format mixing console that extends the ActiveAnalogue and Instant Recall approach introduced with Oracle. Multiple frame sizes address recording, mixing, and hybrid production rooms that still want a substantial analogue surface.
Systems can be configured from 24+8 to 96+8 channels. Audio remains in the analogue domain while control positions are stored and recalled, reducing the time spent manually rebuilding a desk between sessions or revisions. The design joins tactile operation to modern state management rather than replacing one with the other.
The challenge for a large analogue console now includes footprint, power, maintenance, and repeatability as much as sound. Odyssey's argument is that software-controlled recall can preserve the reason engineers choose an analogue path while removing one of its largest workflow costs.
