Wheatstone plans to demonstrate its VMX virtual mixing platform at IBC2026. The platform is server-based and accessible through a web browser, and it sits within Wheatstone’s Layers software-based broadcast suite as an extension of the WheatNet IP audio network.
VMX can be installed on an existing server or on a dedicated appliance. Its tile options range from basic utility mixers and a simple virtual mixing interface to full virtual broadcast consoles for television newsrooms and radio on-air studios. The platform is AES67 compliant, includes a setup wizard, and scales from large enterprise systems down to VMX Nano, a version priced and sized for remote or emergency broadcast applications.
For broadcast facilities, the browser-based console approach supports adding newsrooms, control rooms, voicetrack booths and remote mixing instances as needed. Real-time synchronized backup mirroring is intended to provide immediate failover if a failure occurs. Wheatstone will show the VMX virtual mixing workflow at IBC2026 stand 8.A51 alongside its WheatNet IP network of virtual and fixed consoles, talent stations and intelligent I/O access units.
