SAE Institute Amsterdam has installed Audient’s ORIA, a dedicated immersive audio interface and monitor controller, in its newly built Dolby Atmos teaching space. The Amsterdam facility is using the room as part of a broader move to place spatial audio inside its audio curriculum.
The campus has an established relationship with Audient, and its students move through several Audient systems during training. They start on the portable iD4 and iD44 desktop interfaces, then advance to the rackmount iD48 for linking live rooms with production studios, ASP880 preamps in Studio 1, and the ASP8024 console in Studio 3 for their first inline-desk mixing experience. For the Atmos room, ORIA was chosen in part for its onboard tuning and calibration tools, allowing the school to work with external partners while aligning the room to the Dolby curve and Dolby requirements.
SAE Amsterdam frames the Atmos installation as a practical response to immersive audio becoming part of normal professional work rather than a specialist extra. Across the SAE region, including Germany, Switzerland and Austria, immersive audio is being added to the student experience, with the goal of exposing graduates to systems and workflows used in post-production, cinema, film and other high-end audio settings.
