Good Shepherd Church in Charlotte uses its audio system for four Sunday worship gatherings, three in English and one in Spanish, as well as online services reaching viewers beyond the room. When its 16-year-old house console reached retirement, the church brought in World-Class Acoustical Visual Elements, known as WAVE, to help select a new desk, improve the room acoustics and retune the existing P.A.
The church chose a DiGiCo Quantum225 for front-of-house mixing, with 48 inputs typically feeding the console. Monitor mixing is handled separately by a KLANG:vokal+ system, building on the KLANG:vokal platform first implemented in 2021 and expanding to 64 mono channels for each of 12 immersive in-ear mixes, with KLANG parametric Root/Intensity EQs across all 64 mono inputs and all 12 mixes.
According to Worship Arts Pastor Chris Macedo, the Quantum225 brought improvements in fidelity, clarity, frequency balance and workflow, including faster movement between layers, input organization and console navigation. The KLANG immersive 3D capability is used by vocalists and drummers, giving performers a way to place stereo and other inputs with more width and positioning inside their personal mixes.
