ReelWorks Denver has installed a permanent L-Acoustics DJ and L2D system. The 2,000-capacity venue occupies a former film-reel factory and already surrounded audiences with 360-degree projection mapping and intelligent lighting, but its house audio dated from 2007 and no longer matched the concert programme it wanted to host.
L-Acoustics DJ applies low-latency machine learning to separate a conventional stereo DJ feed into beats, basslines, melodies and vocals, then sends those stems to an L-ISA spatial mix. The system is designed to preserve the DJ's existing equipment and workflow while allowing individual musical elements to be positioned and moved around the room.
Three L2D arrays form a left-centre-right main system above the stage. The dedicated centre channel can anchor vocals or other key elements, while L2D's cardioid behaviour helps reduce energy at the DJ booth. Eight KS28 subwoofers sit in cardioid configurations at the sides of the stage.
A15i Focus and A15i Wide arrays provide mid-room, rear and side surround coverage, with more A15i cabinets serving the balcony. The DJ monitoring position uses two A15 Focus and two KS21 subwoofers per side, plus X12 enclosures for surround foldback. LA7.16i and LA12X amplified controllers drive the system, and an L-ISA Processor II runs the spatial layer.
MONDO-DR describes ReelWorks as the second permanent L-Acoustics DJ venue in the Americas. The report does not independently measure separation quality or processing latency. What the project establishes is a complete chain: real-time treatment of existing stereo material, a discrete centre, and surround loudspeakers designed together for live spatial playback.
