LD Systems helped prepare Houston’s NRG Stadium for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by installing a new Fulcrum Acoustic bowl audio system. The venue, temporarily renamed Houston Stadium during the tournament, hosted seven matches, and the work was carried out for Harris County and the NFL Houston Texans with technical consultant WJHW.
The main bowl, concourses, and support spaces use 1,194 Fulcrum loudspeakers in total, including AHC443 high-output horn-loaded arrays, CS218LWR dual 18-inch weather-resistant subwoofers, and CX1226-MT200, CX1226, CX1595, CX826-MT120, FH1566, and FH1595 models. Overall system weight was reduced by 40%, and the loudspeakers were mounted to the super truss about 250 feet above the field because the retractable roof prevents roof hangs.
LD Systems had previously integrated the stadium’s original audio requirements in 2002 and has supported major events there since. The new infrastructure includes Powersoft Unica and Crown DCI amplification, a Yamaha Rivage PM5 primary mixing platform, Shure Axient wireless microphones, redundant Q-SYS Core 5200 processing, Core 610 processors for suite-level audio, and dedicated audio systems for more than 260 suites.
