Biamp has delivered a background music system for 30 Pirie Street, a premium office tower in Adelaide, Australia, owned by Quintessential. The system covers four zones: the main foyer, the atrium, the rear entrance off Rundle Mall and the bike storage area, with the project framed around first impressions and conversation clarity across different building areas.
Working with Australia-based integrator Professional Technology Partners, the team installed Biamp Voltera D Series amplifiers and Tesira DSP for processing and distribution. Desono pendant loudspeakers were used in the atrium for architectural integration, while Desono in-ceiling loudspeakers were installed elsewhere for discreet coverage. An Apprimo touch panel gives concierge staff control, and Biamp Workplace automates daily operation, including scheduled music starts and stops, volume adjustments and a daily reset to default levels.
The practical value is that the four different zones can maintain appropriate background music without detailed staff intervention. In the bike storage area, the system had to mask mechanical noise while preserving speech intelligibility, while the foyer and atrium required music that supported the space without dominating it. The networked Biamp infrastructure also gives Quintessential scope to expand or modify the system as tenant needs evolve.
