Forma Labs Audio has released Filament, a real-time MIDI orchestration engine for composers and producers working in modern DAWs. The company frames it as a control and performance tool for existing sounds, rather than as a replacement for a composer’s decisions or as another sample library.
Filament can host and play up to 64 AU/VST3 instruments from one DAW track. At launch it includes real-time MIDI orchestration, AU/VST3 hosting, standalone operation, a multi-mode arpeggiator, per-instrument MIDI clip launching, keyswitch-based orchestration systems, custom mixer setups, and more than 100 presets.
The software launched on June 30, 2026 for Windows 10+ and Mac, with VST3, AU, and standalone support. Its pricing is GBP 149 at retail, with a GBP 99 launch-window price, placing the product around faster routing, sequencing, mixing, triggering, and reuse of libraries already present in a user’s workflow.
