JAG Hotel in St. John's, Newfoundland, has installed 71 Genelec Smart IP loudspeakers across a three-floor expansion. The new office level, penthouse suite, and Mojo Lounge were fitted by the hotel's technical team in collaboration with Canadian distributor and integrator SFM.

Fifty 4435 in-ceiling models provide distributed coverage through the upper floors, while 21 surface-mounted 4430s serve the Mojo Lounge. The lounge units sit visibly on adjustable brackets, making the enclosures part of the room rather than concealing them behind the interior finish.

The principal infrastructure problem was distance: the main AV control room is on the second floor, well below the new spaces. Smart IP uses PoE so each loudspeaker receives power, audio, and control over a single network cable, avoiding a separate mains run to every distributed position.

SFM selected and programmed the system, and the hotel's in-house crew carried out the installation. Mixing in-ceiling and surface-mounted models on the same network let the team respond differently to discreet corridors and the deliberately music-led lounge while working to a tight schedule.

AVNetwork presents the project as an extension of the hotel's brand around music. The report does not include measured SPL, frequency-response, or network-latency data. Its useful evidence is the physical deployment: 71 reproduction points and a PoE architecture chosen to span the distance from the control room.
